Ecclesiastes 1:9-11
9 “What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there a thing of which it is said,
See, this is new?
It has been already
in the ages before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,
nor will there be any remembrance
of later things yet to be
among those who come after.”
This has spoken to me greatly today. It’s kind of a covers all the bases for whatever predicament you are in kind of thing. For instance the heartaches I’ve been experiencing recently are not directly covered in the bible. The closest thing I’ve found is in Esther, (although I’ve found a Greek translation of that book that puts things in a different light http://www.ecmarsh.com/lxx/Esther/index.htm ) In any case my NKJV wasn’t providing any parallels to my dilemma.
I took the advice of a close friend of mine to look into Ecclesiastes. I love Proverbs and the book of Psalms apparently Ecclesiastes is shorter but in the same vein. So this is what I read today and it hasn’t made my burden any lighter, but it has given me hope.
Whether it’s the pursuit of starting my own business, or trying to find God, or learning to love someone despite the circumstances, I know that I’m not alone. someone has been here before experienced my pain and struggled in the same way that I am struggling.
